About Ibiza

Ibiza is a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea. It belongs to the Balearic Islands and it is known for its outstanding, luxurious parties. The Island started to gain popularity in the 60’s and 70’s when American hippies saw an opportunity to escape from the city life. From the hippy movement and the traditional Ibiza clothing, a new fashion style was born: The Adlib fashion. These light-coloured, fine fabric clothes are still very popular and can be found in markets and shops all over the island. Ibiza’s intense history, its characteristic white, yet simple architecture and its breathtaking landscapes, make the island a source of inspiration for international artists.
Perhaps, that explains why it’s home to some of the best (and most expensive) clubs in the world.

The party in Ibiza starts as soon as you step into your hostel. In the common areas of the hostels in Ibiza, people get together to dance, drink sangria and eat tapas. Some of the Ibiza hostels even offer welcome drinks and an open bar. You can easily walk to the beach from a majority of the hostels, some of them even boast seaside locations! ‘I don’t like waking up to Mediterranean views’, said no one, ever. Don't forget to check out our best hostels in Ibiza!

As Ibiza is an island of many sides, pick the area of the island that suits your travelling style. San Antoni is popular for those who want to party, as The West End is home to a lively strip of bars and super-clubs Eden and Es Paradis are nearby. San Antoni also has plenty for those who want to chill too though, with iconic Café Del Mar and Café Mambo on its coastal path – the best place to watch (and clap) the sunset. Boats regularly head to the white sandy beaches of Cala Bassa and Cale Comte from San Antoni too. Ibiza Town (Eivissa) is located closer to the island’s centre and tends to attract a slightly older crowd and here you’ll find a more traditional side of the island. There are plenty of bars and restaurants too and Ibiza Town is home to the world-famous Pacha nightclub. Alternatively, head to a quieter coastal area for a more tranquil beach break.

The city of Ibiza is where you can find the most famous clubs and where most of the parties take place. This is the perfect place to find a hostel in Ibiza if you want to enjoy the wild side of the island. You know it’s ‘drink o’clock’ when the club dancers parade through the marina in their traditional outfits. Sant Antoni is in the west part of the island and it is the perfect city if you want to explore the charming coves without the crowds. There’s also an amazing nightlife that you’ll want to explore here too! To fill the time between parties, try visiting the different beaches and flea markets on the island. The Hippy Market is one of the most popular,
it takes place every Wednesday between April and October from 10 am to 6 pm.

You can easily get around the cities and villages by foot but there are also buses available. To move from one city to another or to visit the furthest beaches,
you’ll have to take a bus, taxi or rent your own car.
